Missions in Peru

Welcome to my missions page for Peru, South America.  The South Carolina Church of God of Prophecy has supported mission work in Peru for several years.  I have been on two trips personally and supported others.  Our principle focus has been to assist our local church people and leaders both financially and physically.  We have provided clothing and other items to those less fortunate, however we have also been very busy building churches, a school, and now a youth camp for that region.

Below are photographs from these endeavors.  I will add others at time, as well as links to other friends sites that are supporting these missions as well.    Remember that the vending business on my other site www.tabsvending.com as well as the "Christian Mall" on that site supports these mission endeavors.

This is an example of the poverty in the Capital City of Lima, Peru.  The capital of Lima very rarely receives any rainfall.  While the heart of the city is full of modern conveniences, the average citizen isn't able to enjoy them.

This is the site in Piura where we are building a new Youth Camp facility for the youth as well as adults of Peru.  This photo was taken in 2005.  This labor is being done by Peruvian men, payed for by donations from U.S. mission funds.

This is the interior of a church in the city of Iquitos on the Amazon River.  It is a large city with very poor people.  This is a three story church with the sanctuary at ground level, classrooms on the second, and the pastor's home onthe third.

This is my Dad, Bishop Curtis Sutton of Alabama, preaching in Iquitos with a young interpreter.  On this trip we toured some of the locations we had built churches, and also work a couple of days our selves at the Piura Youth Camp site.

This is the Church building that we built in Indiana, a small village town on the Amazon River.  These are children of the church gathering for a welcome service.  The electricity here on comes on for a few hours in the evening every day.

This is the inside of one of the Churches we have built.  Notice the trusses that we built onsite.  The wood was so hard, we had to drill holes to drive the nails into. We rented generators to bring and power our tools.

This church was built in 2001 in the Amazon Jungle.  The parsonage is located next door here.  Notice it is just a thatch type roof over poles and a wood floor.  They never need any heat here though.
